Murphy is recruiting for a Project Director to work with the Energy Team across National Grid, Linear Projects. A day in the life of a Murphy Project Director:
Responsibilities
* Ensure that the scope of works is delivered safely, on time, to required quality standards, meeting acceptance criteria and achieving expected financial outcomes.
* Set the overall standard on the project/contract, ensuring consistency across projects in line with standards, policies and procedures.
* Build and develop the wider operational and project management team to deliver all project/contract requirements.
* Line manage Project Managers accountable for delivery, chair regular project team meetings, and ensure actions are recorded and closed out.
* Manage the “fit to start” process to mobilise in a controlled and timely manner; ensure effective handover from the work winning team to delivery.
* Develop and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with the Client and other stakeholders.
* Lead the development of a detailed cost forecast and ensure it is reviewed and updated regularly.
* Lead the development of resource forecasts (staff, labour, plant, materials) aligned with the programme.
* Support procurement of suppliers and sub-contractors.
* Lead improvements to achieve or better financial objectives.
* Lead development and implementation of tender strategy / win themes.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience delivering HV Transmission projects within 132kV to 400kV or major civil projects.
* Experience in a Project Director or Senior Managerial role.
* HNC / HND.
* Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
* Experience of working on complex multi-discipline enhancement projects, delivering within programme and cost controls.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills; able to develop close working relationships with clients and subcontractors.
