About the role
Are you interested in a 13 month placement starting June 2026 with one of the UK’s largest energy producers? Our Operations and Maintenance group has an exciting industrial placement opportunity, and are looking for a motivated team member with excellent interpersonal skills!
RWE Generation’s Operation and Maintenance group support our portfolio of gas fired power stations across Europe. Our Chemistry and Environmental Engineering placement role will allow you to work within this group, focusing on Pembroke Power Station. Pembroke Power Station is one of the largest and most efficient combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power stations in Europe. We embrace our responsibility towards the environment and are committed to continually improving our performance for both generation and the environment.
During your placement, you will:
1. Be responsible for monitoring the water/steam cycle and take investigative action where necessary.
2. Develop in depth understanding of environmental permits and undertake the monitoring required to maintain environmentally sustainable energy production.
3. Engage in personal projects which will drive continual improvement.
4. Participate in courses, workshops, and on the job training to support your growth.
You may also have the opportunity to collaborate with other departments, including participating in shift work with our operations team, to tackle the daily challenges in running a power station.
Job Requirements and Experience
5. Ideally, you are pursuing a degree in Chemical and / or Environmental Engineering and have an interest in the energy sector.
6. Your degree should include an industrial placement year to meet the requirements for this role.

8. A salary of £25,250 per annum
