You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
The Infrastructure Operations organization is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Cluster Manager in London. You will lead a large organization managing multiple data centers in the cluster, overseeing managers responsible for critical facility infrastructure.
The pace, scale, and growth of Amazon's data center platform will challenge you. We seek experienced senior leaders who are highly strategic in managing their business unit, yet lead by example and roll up their sleeves when required.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of data center and mission-critical MEP infrastructure. You will be responsible for maintaining 100% service uptime in our cluster, maintaining a high-level view while diving deep into details as needed. You will interact daily with global teams, representing London Data Center Engineering Operations.

Team Leadership & Development: Hire, manage, and develop the operations management team including Facility Managers, Chief Engineers, and Facility Technicians. Mentor and develop employees at all levels, including managers.

Operational Excellence: Ensure operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for AWS data centers, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management. Maintain 100% service uptime across your cluster.

Performance Management: Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of critical facility operations and maintenance. Manage all facility-related repairs in a timely manner.

Organizational Structure: Build and maintain a sustainable organizational structure. Develop hiring strategy and participate in recruiting events.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with business development, engineering, and construction teams to forecast staffing needs and maintain appropriate resource levels.

Vendor Management: Manage colocation data center service providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLAs. Oversee on-site management of shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with established practices and procedures.

Incident Management: Lead safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.

Financial Management: Manage cost including OPEX and CAPEX associated with all data centers under your responsibility.

Reporting & Communication: Conduct daily/weekly/monthly Data Center Engineering Operations meetings and reporting. Run weekly availability meetings and report outcomes.

Global Integration: Liaise with global teams on initiatives, processes, and procedures; implement those initiatives locally in London.

Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools. Lead and manage energy efficiency initiatives in your cluster.

Capacity Planning: Support capacity planning and management activities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience understanding electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switch gear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, or air handling units
- A Health and Safety NVQ Level 3 or NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment
- Experience working with CMMS software
- Experience leading apprenticeship programmes and structured talent pipelines
- Military background or experience working with veteran talent pipelines, AWS actively
- welcomes applications from the Armed Forces community

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation relevant to the built environment, including PSSR, LOLER, COSHH, and CDM regulations
- Experience managing critical vendor relationships and chairing vendor governance forums (MBRs/QBRs)
- HV Authorisation (AP/CP level) or equivalent — desirable
