Hays is proud to be working with a national manufacturingpany who are looking to add a Management Accountant to their finance function.Working closely with the Finance Director to be a key part in the day to day finance operations, cost control and supporting the production team. This job is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied position, being part of a close-knit finance function and taking ownership of their workload.

Your new role
1. Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
2. Maintain accurate general ledger records
3. Lead on Month end
4. Produce budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
5. Maintain and analyse product costings
6. Monitor material, labour, and overhead variances
7. Track inventory valuation (raw materials, finished goods)
8. Support pricing and margin analysis
9. Prepare VAT returns and liaise with HMRC
10. Support statutory accounts and external audits
11. Maintain strong financial controls and documentation
12. Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital
13. Oversee credit control, supplier payments, and bank reconciliations
14. Review inventory levels and payment terms
15. Partner with production and operations to improve cost efficiency, relating to finance across departments
16. Assist in analysis and asset management
17. Drive process and reporting improvements
18. Oversee workload of 1 other member of staff
19. Support system or process upgrades
What you'll need to succeed This job would suit someone who thrives by using their own initiative to take ownership of their workload whilst still working well as part of a small finance team and the wider teams. Some of the key things that we are looking for:
20. Part or Fully Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
21. Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
22. Strong management accounting and cost accounting skills
23. Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail
24. Confident with Excel and accounting systems
25. Enjoys working in a small, friendly, practical finance team
26. Values a grounded, collaborative & friendly working culture
