Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct testing on Respiratory and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) products to ensure compliance with EN standards and support product development.
2. Perform development, qualification, pre compliance, and audit testing to maintain and advance certifications for respiratory protection products.
3. Interpret and apply test methods, updating documentation as required.
4. Collaborate with external test laboratories to develop and refine procedures and test methods, driving continuous improvement.
5. Assist with scheduled calibration of test equipment and support internal safety audits and risk assessments.
6. Manage test equipment consumables to ensure availability and readiness.
7. Work closely with R&D teams including product engineers, developers, and certification/compliance specialists to support successful product development.
8. Contribute to maintaining the Quality Management System to uphold laboratory accreditation and product certifications.
9. Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams proficiently for reporting and communication.
Preferred Skills & Experience
10. Understanding of respiratory protection and SCBA products, including performance, testing, and release criteria.
11. Knowledge of respiratory protection testing requirements and EN standards for Respiratory and SCBA testing.
12. Awareness of gas and vapour testing methods.
13. Familiarity with reusable respirators, powered and supplied air systems, and SCBA products.
14. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
15. High attention to detail.
16. Ability to interpret and analyse technical data.
17. Proficient in Minitab or similar statistical analysis software.
Education
18. HNC, HND, or Degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
19. Degree-level education or higher preferred.
37 hour working week Monday - Friday.
