Job Title – Buyer
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team in the aerospace sector. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop a career in supply chain and procurement, with a focus on sourcing, purchasing, and inventory control within a highly regulated industry.
Tasks and Accountabilities
Key Responsibilities:
* Procure materials, components, and services to support aerospace manufacturing and engineering operations.
* Raise and manage purchase orders in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
* Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery, resolve order discrepancies, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
* Carry out sourcing activities including obtaining quotations, cost comparisons, and supplier evaluations.
* Support on-boarding of new suppliers and ensure the product or service provision meets the governance requirements of the business.
* Maintain procurement records in compliance with aerospace standards (e.g. AS9100) and regulatory requirements.
* Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure purchased items meet specifications.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives in the supply chain function.
* Support the expediting of orders and resolution of any delivery or quality issues.
* Contribute to achieving KPIs such as cost savings, on-time delivery, and supplier performance.
Requirements
* GCSEs (or equivalent) required; A-Levels or a relevant NVQ/BTEC in business or supply chain preferred.
* 2 years experience or internship in procurement, supply chain, or manufacturing role is essential.
* Knowledge of aerospace industry standards is a plus.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Good numeracy and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
* High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Willingness to learn and develop within a structured procurement environment.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Working towards or interested in pursuing CIPS qualification (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply).
