Overview
Band 3 Administration and Clerical Officer (Cellpath Support Office) – A position has become available in the Cellular Pathology Department within the histology office. This role is at the centre of the team and requires an enthusiastic, hard-working individual who can work under pressure with an approachable, professional and can-do attitude to meet the needs of the Department.
You must have excellent communication, interpersonal and secretarial skills. Attention to detail is important. You must also have sound IT skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook, and experience in updating databases. Previous experience in audio and copy typing and knowledge of medical terminology are advantageous but not essential. The post is full-time, 8.45am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. Participation in a 1 in 3 weekly early start rota (from 8.00am – 4pm) would be required.
Responsibilities
* Act as a laboratory administrative assistant providing comprehensive administrative support to departmental Consultants, Head Biomedical Scientist and other scientific and clinical staff.
* Input patient data and results and prepare laboratory reports; undertake general secretarial duties for the department.
* Assist with departmental MDT provision to support Consultants.
* Liaise with hospital clinicians, GPs, other healthcare professionals and external agencies in line with departmental policies.
* Exercise autonomy within professional and managerial boundaries and verify and validate completed work.
Qualifications & Skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work under pressure and maintain a professional approach.
* Strong secretarial and IT skills (Microsoft Office Suite, database updates).
* Attention to detail; prior experience in audio and copy typing and knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous but not essential.
* Ability to work full-time with rostered early starts as required.
