Job Title: Lecturer in Electrical Maintenance Workshop

Department: TTE Study Programmes

Reporting to: Associate Director

Salary: £29,565 - £43,562 per annum (subject to a progression criteria)*

Annual Leave: 45 days per annum plus bank holidays

Contractual hours: 37 hours per week

Basis: Full time/ Permanent

Pension: Teachers Pension Scheme

Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD

The Role

We are looking for a dedicated and forward‑thinking Lecturer in Electrical Maintenance to join our ambitious Engineering team. In this role, you will design and deliver high‑quality teaching across electrical and electronics disciplines, create an engaging and supportive learning environment, and ensure every student is stretched, supported, and inspired to achieve. You'll use a range of innovative teaching methods, contribute to assessment and quality assurance processes, and play an active part in shaping and improving our curriculum. Key Responsibilities

Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Plan and deliver a suitable Assessment Programme ensuring marked work meets Middlesbrough College Gold Standards.
Implement Middlesbrough College's Core Values through the Taking Teaching Higher strategy.
Utilise diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic achievement.
Participate in Interval Verification requirements including the preparation for Awarding Body visits.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

To be a qualified Teacher or willing to work towards.
To be a qualified assessor or willing to work towards
To hold a minimum of a Level 5 in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
GCSEs at Grade C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent. Experience
Desirable – Current knowledge and / or experience of teaching in one or more fields of Electrical & Electronics Engineering
Current knowledge of potential issues in the sector that may impact on curriculum delivery.
Current knowledge and / or experience of career opportunities in the sector for 16 – 18 and 19+ learners

Targeted Retention Scheme

Eligible FE teachers in their first five years could receive a £2,000–£6,000 Targeted Retention Incentive for teaching key subjects ( construction, chemistry, computing/ICT, early years, engineering, maths, physics). Check full criteria and application window on GOV.UK.
