Team Leader / Deputy Manager - Residential Children's Home
Location: Ashbourne
Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum
Full-time | Shift work

About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Team Leader to join a Residential Children's Home in Ashbourne. This role involves leading a team and providing care and support for children with learning disabilities, helping them live fulfilling, independent lives through assistance with day-to-day activities, personal care, and emotional development.

As a Team Leader, you will oversee and mentor a dedicated team to ensure the best possible care for the young people in our care. You'll be instrumental in developing a nurturing, supportive environment for children to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct care and support for children with learning disabilities, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being at all times.

Oversee and support staff in managing children's behaviors, promoting self-control and independence.

Assist the manager in daily and weekly tasks, ensuring smooth operations and safety.

Supervise team members, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and effective work practices.

Help manage referrals and ensure proper matching, sharing information with the team.

Ensure clear, informative handovers and delegate tasks as required.

Maintain up-to-date documentation (e.g., Statement of Purpose, Regulation 45 reports, risk assessments).

Assist with personal care tasks, such as hygiene, dressing, and feeding.

Support children in educational and recreational activities, promoting social inclusion.

Foster positive relationships with children to support their emotional development and self-confidence.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, external professionals, and families to ensure holistic care.

Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and nurturing environment.

Support children in managing emotions and behaviors through de-escalation techniques.

Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to improve the quality of care.

Build positive relationships with relatives and external agencies.

Safeguard all young people in line with company policies and procedures.

Promote development within the team to enhance the young people's experiences.

Follow safeguarding procedures to identify and report potential abuse or neglect.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience working with children, particularly those with learning disabilities or additional needs (essential).

Supervisory experience is beneficial but not essential.

Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent (required).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and work effectively within a team.

A caring, patient, and empathetic attitude, with a commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of children.

Ability to manage challenging behaviors calmly and professionally.

Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties.

A desire to progress within the role and embrace professional growth opportunities.

Up-to-date knowledge of legislation and local policies.

A full UK driving licence (business insurance required).
