Adelphi Real World - Associate Editor
We are a global consultancy in healthcare that collects and interrogates real‑world data to aid the pharmaceutical industry in understanding the management and treatment of specific diseases. This data informs pipeline asset development, product positioning, and health‑outcomes economic argumentation through statistically validated publications.
The Role
This entry‑level role sits within the Publications department. Over the years, Adelphi has produced over 1000 publications and has recently formalised the publication process by establishing a centralised Publications Team. The Associate Editor will engage in all publication‑related processes, supporting the team and ensuring consistency and quality across all outputs.
Accountabilities
* Provide high‑quality support to ARW franchise teams and the Publications Team.
* Liaise with franchise teams to determine publication support needs.
* Coordinate communications between franchise teams and clients.
* Assist franchise teams and clients by creating, managing, and coordinating accurate data record keeping.
* Monitor due dates, identify approaching deadlines, and follow up with franchise teams.
* Track publications through to successful publication.
* Ensure the publication process and all materials comply with current relevant guidelines.
* Proactively collaborate with franchise and publications teams to keep databases up‑to‑date and reviews completed on schedule.
* Coordinate the internal and external review process.
* Carry out internal reviews of all publication outputs using in‑house checklists and user guides, ensuring all publications meet the required level.
* Edit documents as required, with quality control and proofreading.
* Submit abstracts, posters, and presentations to international conferences and congresses.
* Submit manuscripts to scientific journals for peer review, ensuring journal guidelines are met.
* Coordinate responses to reviewers’ comments and resubmit manuscripts in a standard format.
* Gather author information required for submissions such as approvals, disclosure forms, and email addresses in a well‑organised and timely manner.
* Liaise with franchise teams to follow and incorporate authors’ feedback (ARW and external authors).
* Organise, store, and (re‑)reference publications using reference‑management software (e.g., EndNote).
* Other support to the Publications Team, including database updates.
The Person
We believe the right candidate will have 0–3 years of editorial experience within medical communications or medical education, ideally working as part of an established editorial team who understands all processes involved in scientific publications. This could be the next career step, especially for those interested in real‑world evidence.
Qualifications
* Experience in publication administration and editorial processes (Essential).
* BSc level education or higher (Essential).
* Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Essential).
* Strong interpersonal skills and team spirit for effective collaboration.
* Excellent organisation and time/project management skills (Essential).
* Highly motivated with a proactive approach to work (Essential).
* Excellent written, verbal and numerical skills (Essential).
* Attention to detail (Essential).
* Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.
