Principal Pipeline Engineer (Energy) – WSP, UK & Ireland
Responsibilities
* Work with project teams to develop cost‑effective, efficient and innovative solutions for complex problems, creating practical designs.
* Engage in projects at various stages – feasibility studies, Concept Designs, FEED Studies, Value Engineering and Detailed Design, with opportunities for site work during development, construction and commissioning.
* Prepare pipeline deliverables and above‑ground installations, including wall thickness calculations and piping specifications.
* Undertake pipeline routing and population studies and high‑pressure pipeline diversions.
* Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines during design development.
* Support the development of layouts and 3D models.
* Develop proposals and bids for the piping and layout discipline, contributing to multi‑disciplinary proposals.
Qualifications
* A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject.
* Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/Ceng and a member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
* Understanding of IGEM/TD/1 and TD/13, and gas network operators addendum’s.
* The ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of pipeline and AGI engineering deliverables.
* Knowledge of national and international codes and standards for design and manufacturing of plant equipment and piping.
* Experience of carrying out pipeline and AGI design.
* Experience in a multi‑discipline team on plant 3D models.
* Proven understanding of the design process, ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts and producing calculations.
* Experience of operational and integrity issue troubleshooting and problem solving.
* Familiarity with Autodesk products – AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks and BIM360.
* Proficiency in MS Office suite for technical reports, specifications, schedules and calculations.
* Experience working with clients and contractors to achieve technical solutions.
