Sugar Valley Ltd is a specialist dessert and cake manufacturing company based in West Yorkshire. We produce premium-quality cakes, cheesecakes, and patisserie-style desserts, all crafted in-house with attention to detail and creativity. We are expanding into nationwide supply across the UK, providing desserts and cakes for wholesale, events, catering, and retail partners.
The Role
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our production team. The successful candidate will ensure that our products consistently meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance, while also contributing to product development and shelf-life improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out quality checks on cakes, desserts, and bakery items during and after production.
* Ensure recipes, weights, and procedures are followed accurately.
* Monitor hygiene, cleaning, and sanitation across production areas.
* Record fridge, freezer, and display cabinet temperatures daily.
* Conduct allergen, labelling, and date checks for compliance.
* Support shelf-life testing and implement improvements to product stability and freshness.
* Assist in new product development, working with the production team to trial and refine recipes.
* Report non-conformances and work with the team to resolve issues.
* Support HACCP and food safety standards.
Requirements
* Background in Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, or a related discipline (qualification desirable but not essential).
* Experience in quality assurance, product development, or food production environment (preferred but not essential).
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
* Understanding of food safety regulations and allergen management.
* Good communication and reporting skills.
