I am recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing business for a skilled and proactive buyer to join their procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in managing the purchasing of all indirect goods while supporting operational performance and continuous improvement across the supply chain.
The Role:
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the effective sourcing, negotiation, and management of supplier relationships. You will work cross-functionally with teams across the organisation to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the purchasing of indirect goods and services to support operational departments
Develop and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across quality, cost, delivery, and inventory performance
Maintain approved supplier lists and source alternative suppliers as required
Support ERP system development relating to purchasing and supplier data
Assist with stock control and ensure materials availability to meet business demand
Investigate and resolve supplier quality issues and ensure commercially appropriate outcomes
Conduct supplier negotiations and ensure consistent on-time, in-full delivery
Liaise with internal teams on alternative product specifications and provide procurement input for customer quotations
Provide cover for direct goods purchasing and support wider procurement team activities as neededWhat We're Looking For
Previous experience in a procurement or buyer role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering setting
A background in the sourcing of indirect goods and services
Familiarity with ERP purchasing and inventory systems
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
High attention to detail with strong administrative and organisational abilities
Commercially minded with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
