Research Assistant / Associate (Fixed-Term) – Cambridge, England, United Kingdom
The University of Cambridge, in collaboration with the Department of Pathology, Department of Surgery, and the University of St Andrews, seeks applicants for a collaborative project on Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) research.
Responsibilities
* Work on Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) as proposed in a KRUK funded project grant.
* Work with kidney organoids and human kidneys to test the ability of newly identified drug-like compounds to prevent HCMV spread and reactivation.
Qualifications
* Experience of working with tissue culture and viruses.
* Desirable: experience of working with human organs in perfusion systems, experience with iPSCs and organoid models.
* Data will be assessed primarily using microscopy; experience with fluorescence microscopes and confocal microscopes is required.
* PhD in Virology or related topic (or about to obtain).
* Appointment at the Research Associate level is dependent on the award of a PhD. If a PhD is submitted but not yet awarded, appointment will be at the Research Assistant level and amended to Research Associate once the PhD is confirmed.
Employment details
* Fixed-term: funds available for 2 years in the first instance.
* Health assessment required after an offer of employment is accepted.
* UK eligibility to live and work is required.
