Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the Cheshire Mental Health Support Team’s (MHST) based in Cheshire West. The Band 5 Education Mental Health Practitioner / CYPWP will work with colleagues in the Cheshire West MHST based in Chester & Winsford, working closely with education settings and professionals supporting children, young people and their families.
The post involves working directly with schools, colleges and other settings, providing information, advice and guidance through consultation, training, direct work with children and young people and their parents/carers, and delivering evidence‑based interventions.
Main Duties
* Provide assessment and interventions on an individual and wider systems basis under close clinical supervision.
* Access and deliver regular case management and clinical supervision both individually and in groups.
* Deliver a range of 1:1 and group Low Intensity CBT‑based interventions for children, young people, and parents/carers.
* Work with schools, colleges, and local agencies to support children, young people and families.
Professional Registration
Applicants must have proven professional registration with a recognised national body (BPS, BABCP). Registration may be obtained within 6 months of the start date; a 6‑month fixed‑term contract will be offered until registration is confirmed, after which the contract will be amended to permanent.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified Postgraduate Certificate or above from a provider university as part of the CYP‑IAPT programme (e.g., EMHP, CWP).
* Professional registration with a recognised National Body (BPS, BABCP) within 6 months of qualification.
* Knowledge of child psychology, development, anxiety, depression, parenting and behaviour management interventions.
* Experience of safeguarding vulnerable people, multi‑agency working, and working in a mental health or CYP setting.
Desirable Criteria
* Psychology or other health‑related undergraduate degree.
* Evidence of working in local community settings.
* Experience of routine outcome monitoring.
* Demonstrated commitment to evidence‑based psychological and systemic therapies.
