Intrapartum Lead Midwife

The Intrapartum Lead Midwife is a senior midwife responsible for overseeing the care of women during labour and birth and ensuring safe, effective and woman‑centred care within the maternity services.
This role combines clinical expertise, leadership coordination and quality improvement within the labour ward environment.
Main duties of the job

* Leadership and staff support
* Quality improvements in maternity services
* Enhancing women's experience of birth
* Support coordination and escalation of care as needed
Qualifications / Training & Professional Development
* Registered & practising Midwife
* Educated to degree/masters level or equivalent
* Mentorship in clinical practice
* Up to date professional portfolio demonstrating evidence of personal and professional development
* PROMPT faculty
* NLS Course ILS Course
* Professional Midwifery Advocate
* Certificate in management or leadership studies or equivalent
Experience
* Expert level midwifery experience, with recent intrapartum clinical experience on a busy delivery unit
* At least 3 years Band 7 experience
* Can demonstrate involvement with clinical audit and research
Skills, abilities and knowledge
* Ability to motivate staff and be a good role model
* Ability to demonstrate sound clinical decision making
* Working knowledge of computerised maternity records
Salary
£57,528 to £64,750 a year, pro rata
