Resource Manager – Legal Support Whisperer 🎯

The practice is growing rapidly. With that growth comes complexity: more people, more workstreams, more locations, and more need for someone who can bring clarity to the chaos. This role sits at the crossroads of people, data and delivery.
What you’ll be doing
Strategic Resourcing & Work Allocation
* Lead the fair, transparent and skill-based allocation of work across Real Estate teams
* Build deep relationships with Partners, Counsel, Associates, Trainees and Paralegals
* Understand individual capacities, skill sets and career aspirations to ensure the right work goes to the right people
* Proactively monitor utilisation, capacity forecasts and team pressure points, flagging issues before they become problems
Influencing Operational Decisions
* Attend fortnightly Business Manager meetings and fortnightly Practice Management meetings
* In time, deputise at monthly operational meetings involving Business Managers, Finance and HR Business Partners
* Collaborate across HR, Finance, L&D, Practice Management and Business Development on people, recruitment, and performance matters
Culture, Events & Engagement
* Support initiatives that enhance team culture and engagement
* Play a key role in organising events, including the annual Away Day attended by c.350 people
* Champion sub-team initiatives and contribute to wider people projects
* Produce weekly utilisation and projected capacity reports
* Compare forecasted vs actual utilisation, helping leaders course-correct
* Support the rollout and enhancement of a new resource management tool, embedding best practice across the function
About you
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
* Experience in resource/work allocation within legal, professional services or corporate environments
* Strong commercial judgement and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills
* A calm, structured approach when facing competing demands and complex people dynamics
* Confidence influencing senior leaders and shaping decisions
* Proficiency in Excel; experience with resource management systems is beneficial
* A professional background in law or legal operations is desirable, but not essential
