Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wymott, a category C Prison located in Leyland, Lancashire. The site houses around 1,200 male patients aged 18+, many of whom are elderly with complex and long‑term conditions.
Hours
Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 08:00 – 16:30 / 09:00 – 17:30. This part‑time role works 24 hours per week.
Salary
You’ll receive an annual salary between £103,600 and £124,320 FTE per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
Our General Practitioners are valued members of the Prison Healthcare community. Your responsibilities will include:
* Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and further develop your knowledge in areas not usually experienced within a practice or even A&E environment.
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis for patients’ requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
* Provide specialist support to other healthcare team members at the site and engage in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications
* MBChB or MBBS, inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse; RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
