We are expanding our Marine Engineering capability and have several on-going projects with clients across commercial and naval marine domains.
Senior Marine Engineer – Responsibilities
* Lead pre-concept and concept surface and sub-surface vessel design, complex engineering design and analysis tasks, and the development of new tools and processes.
* Deliver engineering consultancy services and identify new business opportunities, including decarbonisation solutions and emerging technologies across global maritime programmes.
* Apply and further develop a breadth of Marine Engineering skills; produce engineering requirements including design changes, modifications, defect investigations, obsolescence and alterations/additions.
* Apply deep technical understanding of Power & Propulsion and Auxiliary Systems within a Marine environment.
* Investigate and solve complex technical problems in concept, basic and detailed designs.
* Develop and maintain technical procedures, standards, processes, practices, and guidelines.
* Interface directly with customers and clients to discuss and deliver engineering solutions to complex problems.
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Marine Technology, Naval Engineering), or equivalent experience in naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance.
* Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).
* Recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council (or actively working towards accredited status).
Essential Skills
* Strong understanding of requirements capture and management.
* Strong understanding of through-life support, scope of work development and obsolescence management.
* Strong understanding of technical documentation and standards including DEFSTANS, STANAGS, BRs, etc.
* Strong understanding of the MOD procurement process and common support model.
Desired Skills
* Understanding of the role of a Marine Engineer throughout all stages of the design lifecycle (CADMID).
* Familiarity with classification society rules, regulations and standards in design, construction and in-service lifecycle phases.
* Experience of whole ship design, performance assessment, design integration, construction, and through-life maintenance.
* Experience working in multi-company and engineering discipline teams; effective communication.
* Experience in a technical consulting environment, leading or supporting multiple engineering projects and customers.
* Experience in stakeholder engagement and management.
Experience
* Minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience (8 years for non-degree qualified) in the naval maritime domain, ideally surface or sub-surface defence.
