Role Overview
A Personal Assistant is required to support a sixteen‑year‑old autistic young man with ADHD, living in Indian Queens. The role involves building a positive, trusting relationship and becoming a reliable part of his weekly routine.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support to help him take part in local community activities.
* Assist with practising life‑skills and developing independence.
* Maintain a consistent weekly schedule and adapt flexibly to the person’s needs.
Qualifications
* Experience supporting young people on the autism spectrum is a distinct advantage.
* Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Compensation & Hours
* Pay rate: £13.50 per hour, with potential for a higher rate depending on experience and relevant skills.
* Mileage allowance: 45p per mile.
* Working hours: 5 hours per week with flexible scheduling to suit the candidate’s availability, including after school, weekends, and school holidays.
Conditions
* The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family and will not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
* All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check; the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
