The role
As a Technical Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive vehicle and equipment support as part of our long-standing 21-year partnership with the London Fire Brigade. From maintenance to servicing, you'll help ensure operational readiness across the fleet.
Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for servicing and rectifying defects across the London Fire Brigade fleet, ensuring vehicles remain operational and emergency-ready. This includes working on advanced equipment such as 32-metre and 64-metre aerial platforms, servicing fire pumps, and maintaining the UK’s pioneering Electric Fire Engine. Tasks will include but are not limited to:
1. Diagnose faults and test vehicles utilising equipment available and using recognised test procedures and techniques. Including road testing where deemed necessary
2. Work in an efficient and productive manner, achieving the targets set out and agreed with Workshop Supervisors or Manager
3. Operate a 'Fix First Time' way of working ensuring quality of work is at the utmost standard and meets/exceeds any inspection carried out against it
4. Drive in a manner within the parameters of the law
5. This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time working 40 hours per week and is based on site at Ruislip. Hours of work will typically be 06:00-14:30 and 13:00-22:00 Monday to Friday. Flexible shift patterns are available to accommodate individuals.
Essential experience of the Technical Specialist:
6. Experience in Mechanical Workshops or Car Plants
7. Experience in servicing and repairing HGVs / LGVs
8. A proactive approach with the ability to work well in a team
Qualifications for the Technical Specialist:
9. NVQ Level-3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
10. Holding a Category B and/or C Drivers License is desirable

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
