This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Platform Engineer to step into a leadership role at the heart of a major cloud transformation. As Lead Platform Engineer, you'll be instrumental in building and evolving a robust Microsoft Azure-based platform that supports critical digital journeys across a large-scale, enterprise environment.
Your core mission? Empower engineering teams to build, deploy, and run their services efficiently and securely, by delivering an automated, resilient, and scalable platform. You'll lead by doing: hands-on coding, driving infrastructure-as-code best practices (especially with Terraform), and embedding DevSecOps principles throughout the delivery lifecycle.
The role spans orchestration, observability, security, cloud governance, CI/CD, and cost optimisation. You’ll also play a vital part in scaling the platform team intelligently, mentoring, upskilling, and guiding cross-functional engineers in a lean, high-impact setup.
Tech You’ll Use:
* C# / .NET Core – Absolutely essential you have strong skills here, either coming from a development background or having gained strong C# .NET skills and experience
* Azure cloud environment (end-to-end responsibility)
* Terraform, BICEP, or ARM templates
* Docker & Kubernetes for container orchestration
* Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins
What You’ll Do:
* Design, build, and enhance a shared Azure platform that underpins enterprise-wide digital services
* Lead the implementation of infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, integrated with modern CI/CD pipelines
* Embed automation into everything—from deployment to monitoring—enabling self-service and reducing manual overhead
* Act as a subject matter expert in platform engineering, contributing to hiring, coaching, and technical direction
* Work closely with SREs, architects, security, and delivery teams to ensure platform reliability and scalability
* Balance day-to-day hands-on engineering with broader strategic initiatives focused on cost optimisation and platform maturity
The Offer:
* £80,000–85,000 base salary
* 1 day per week in a stunning lakeside office
