Are you passionate about surgical care and ready to take the next step in your pharmacy career? Do you want to work alongside a team of specialist healthcare professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment?

LUHFT employs over 120 pharmacists across three sites, delivering clinical pharmacy services to all major specialties. This exciting post is based at the Royal site, supporting the Surgical Division, which includes a wide range of complex surgical specialties.

With the increasing complexity of surgical procedures at the Royal site, there are excellent opportunities for professional growth and development within this area.

You will be responsible for the leadership and delivery of a high-quality, proactive, and patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to surgical wards. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective medicines use, contribute to service development, and support junior pharmacists and trainees.

We have fully integrated electronic systems to support the delivery of excellent clinical care and are committed to innovation and continuous improvement.

Main duties of the job

* Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Surgery in the development, implementation, and evaluation of pharmacy services and medicines management across the surgical specialties.
* Provide a safe, effective, and advanced clinical pharmacy service to surgical wards, ensuring optimal use of medicines in line with best practice and national guidance.

* Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, protocols, and audits to improve patient safety and outcomes in surgical care.
* Provide non-medical prescribing services within the surgical division, working as an independent prescriber to manage and optimise patients’ medication regimens.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless pharmaceutical care throughout the surgical patient pathway, including pre-operative and post-operative care.
* Participate in service development initiatives and quality improvement projects to enhance the role of pharmacy within surgery.
