Ready to lead and shape a surgical service? If you are passionate about surgery and excited by the prospect of running your own department, we'd love to hear from you. After over 20 years at PetMedics, our lead surgeon is retiring, and we are looking for the right person to join the surgical department of our Advanced Clinical Team at our Worsley 24-hour hospital. Help grow an already respected surgical service. Clinical care, colleague happiness and clinical progression are cornerstones to the practice’s ethos.
Who are we? PetMedics is a large, 24-hour veterinary hospital in Worsley, staffed by a highly skilled and dedicated clinical team: 36 vets, 40 nurses, patient care assistants, receptionists, an animal transport team, laboratory technician, a dispensary technician, and a large management/administration team. We provide the OOH for 50+ member practices, a thriving first opinion workload, alongside a well-respected multidisciplinary team that accepts both external and internal referrals.
Your Surgical Caseload
Anything. There is no limit to the options available for the right candidate to grow this service in any direction.
You'll Be Fully Supported By
* Surgical team including a fellow ACS surgeon, a vet on a surgery certificate, lead surgical nurse and surgical PCAs
* A dedicated referrals administrator
* The wider CVS network including close working relationships with Manchester Veterinary Specialists (located in the same building) and Chestergates Veterinary Specialists
* A 24-hour veterinary and nursing team (including multiple ECC certificate holders)
* Certificate-led colleagues accepting referrals in surgery, medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, dentistry, cardiology and more
* Nurses with advanced diplomas in ECC, anaesthesia/surgery, medicine and nutrition
* A progressive management team: 2 clinical directors, hospital manager and nurse manager
* A dedicated pet transport team for patient transfers
Facilities & Equipment
You'll Have Access To State-of-the-art Facilities, Including
* 4 operating theatres & 6 consulting rooms
* Permanent CT scanner, digital X-ray, mechanical ventilator, ultrasound, laparoscopy & endoscopy
* Dedicated intensive care ward
* Onsite laboratory (including video microscopy)
* 24-hour hospitalisation care for patients
* Designated referral administrator

What We're Looking For
* RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
* Certificate holder in Small Animal Surgery (Advanced Practitioner status not essential)
* Dedicated case management and client communication skills
* Collaborative approach to working with referring vets and hospital colleagues
* Leadership experience or ambition to lead a multidisciplinary team
