We are looking for a permanent M&E Project Manager to join our Asset and Investment team. The successful candidate can be based at any of our three office locations (Liverpool, Manchester, Accrington) but work will be required across the region.

About the role
The purpose of the role is to deliver end-to-end project management of Mechanical and Electrical contracts, contributing to asset improvement strategies across the association’s properties. The role oversees assets including CHP systems, air conditioning, fire alarms, emergency lighting, CCTV, passenger lifts, stair lifts, and warden call systems. The successful candidate will work across a range of Mechanical & Electrical projects within large, mixed housing portfolios.
Responsibilities
* Project management of bespoke Mechanical and Electrical projects (heating systems, electrical upgrades, lifts, renewable technologies) with cross-directorate collaboration to provide commercial solutions for asset performance.
* Stakeholder management: planning, communication, progress updates, and collaboration with asset management, housing operations, finance, customers and external stakeholders to deliver integrated services at the project level.
* Surveys and project appraisal: support and conduct dilapidation/diagnostic surveys, provide detailed appraisals and technical advice, and ensure investments align with the Asset Management Strategy.
* Investment planning: assist in developing detailed specifications to ensure effective delivery, liaising with external consultants, procurement, compliance, and maintenance teams; keep up-to-date with regulations and emerging technologies.
* Health and safety: ensure compliance with legislative requirements including CDM for all M&E projects and support wider team with knowledge and expertise.
Essential: Skills & Experience
* Knowledge of building construction, standards, planning regulations, leasehold legislation.
* Commercial understanding and experience with value-for-money in delivery of bespoke M&E projects.
* Knowledge of construction specifications and contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC, IET) and their management.
* Experience acting as Project Lead on procurement exercises.
* Knowledge of project financial valuation, performance assessment, and budget management.
* System commissioning, handover and integration with robust handover procedures.
* Experience with CDM as principal designer and other safety requirements.
* Self-motivated, well-organised, able to work autonomously.
* Experience managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Full UK driving licence and access to own car.
Desirable
* Previous experience managing similar projects.
* IT skills – Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
* Knowledge of LOLER and compliance in gas, fuel and electrical safety standards.
Qualifications
* Essential: HNC/HND or equivalent in Building Services Engineering or related M&E discipline.
* Desirable: Degree or recognised management qualification and evidence of CPD; IOSH Managing Safely.
