Consultant Public Health / Public Health Medicine (Ref: LW245870)
Overview
This is a permanent post of 10 sessions per week (40 hours Medical and Dental, 36 hours Agenda for Change). The role is part of the Public Health Directorate, an integrated collaborative team of Consultants, Nurse Specialists, Public Health Practitioners, Analysts, Researchers, Managers and Academics, working in partnership with Local Authorities, Environmental Health, Education Authorities, Health and Social Care, and others.
The successful candidate will be based in the beautiful North East of Scotland. The position offers a supportive environment and partnership opportunities with the University of Aberdeen.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Health Protection Team (indicative 5 sessions per annum).
* Provide Population Health Screening Programme Coordination (indicative 3 sessions per annum).
* Undertake supporting professional activities including training, teaching and the pursuit of sub‑specialty interests.
* Engage in continuing professional development and conduct research.
Qualifications & Eligibility
* Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (licence must be in place prior to starting the post).
* UK‑trained doctors: evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
* CESR or Portfolio Pathway route doctors: must have CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration awarded to be eligible for a substantive Consultant post.
* Doctors with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by the GMC must have confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
* Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months): eligible for doctors not yet listed on the GMC Specialist Register if no substantive appointment is made; during locum employment, an application for CESR or Portfolio Pathway registration to the GMC may be made.
* Non‑medical candidates: must be registered as a specialist on the UK Public Health Register and are appointed on Agenda for Change terms (Band 8D).
Employment Terms
Appointed on either NHS (Scotland) Hospital Medical and Dental staff terms or NHS (Scotland) Agenda for Change terms, depending on professional registration status.
