Althams Butchers is one of the oldest and largest independent family owned & run butchers in the country. We specialise in quality meat and meat products for wholesale, serving hotels, restaurants (including several Michelin Star establishments), pub chains, conferencing venues and catering companies UK wide. We operate a state of the art plant in Morecambe, Lancashire. Our Location on the edge of the Lake District, Lancashire and Yorkshire gives us access to some of the best cattle and lamb markets in the UK.

Due to our continual growth and investment we are recruiting an experienced Butcher to join our team at our plant in Morecambe, Lancashire.
Your Mastery
Key responsibilities will include:
* To be responsible for the correct standard and specification of meat, as per the order sheet system and/or specification sheet, and the timely despatch of the orders.
* To ensure the customer orders are completed fully each day in an efficient and motivated manner.
* To ensure there is no deterioration of products and prepared stock, taking care to select oldest stock first for preparation of order.
* At the close of business ensuring all stock and products are stored correctly, according to date, in the appropriate chiller or freezer.
* At all times to be suitably dressed and wear all the protective clothing and equipment supplied by the Company, and to be responsible for these items.
* To ensure cleanliness of the production areas and to abide all Health and Hygiene rules as laid out by the Company at all times.
* To use the equipment for its purpose at all times, including colour coded equipment.
* To ensure that the correct procedures of manual handling and packing of meat are followed at all times.
* To ensure all machinery and equipment are stripped down and rinsed ready for the Factory Cleaner.

We have a great team environment at Althams Butchers, we recruit individuals who are passionate about our products and care that customers receive excellent service. To be successful in this role you will need a good understanding of health and hygiene regulations, be able to organise tasks and work efficiently and communicate well within a team. This role would ideally suit someone who has operated as a Butcher. Experience which would be beneficial but not essential in all types of Butchery like Portion Control/Hand Dicing/Stripping/Seaming/Boning/Poultry Preparation/Bandsaw/Trimming. Full training will be provided. All equipment and PPE will be provided.
Hours will be full time over 5 days, to be discussed in more detail at interview.
