Role: Accounts Assistant / Credit Control

Department: Accounts

Line Manager: Accounts Team Leader

Location: Worcester

Principle Objectives and Responsibilities including, but not restricted to, the following:

1. To always act with integrity
2. To always act with due care, skill & diligence
3. To always be open and cooperative with the FCA, the PRA, any other regulators, compliance teams etc.
4. To observe proper standards of market conduct
5. To supervise or carry out the accounts, processing money and credit control function of insurance for ensuring fair treatment of our clients.
6. Work strictly within the limits afforded to SJL by insurers and finance providers
7. To actively contact clients and brokers to ensure policies are paid for within the limits of the credit terms.
8. Make credit control decisions and recommendations
9. To process money compliantly
10. To attend meetings with clients, brokers, insurers and finance providers where needed
11. To ensure that all communications with brokers, insurers and clients are accurately recorded as per the Firm’s Procedures Manual.
12. To develop ongoing, mutually beneficial relationships with Brokers, Clients, Introducers and Insurers.
13. Adhere to all company policies as detailed in the company handbook
14. Embrace and use Broker Assess for all CPD, ensuring you meet minimum standards as laid out by the firm.
15. Respond in a timely manner to all client queries and ensure that communications with the customer and/or insurers, or other relevant business contacts are recorded and uploaded on to the firms back office recording system.
16. To assist clients in processing Direct Debits compliantly and within appropriate time scales

Skills Required:

17. Confident telephone manner
18. Friendly but firm approach when discussing settling accounts with clients and brokers
19. Ability to prioritise and organise own workload to ensure that deadlines are adhered to.
20. Ability to construct effective written communications, including letters, emails and reports
21. Ability to liaise confidently and effectively via the telephone, in writing and face to face.
22. Able to manage time effectively
23. Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of insurance contracts including current market conditions
24. Knowledge and understanding of FCA rules and guidelines as well as GDPR & IDD.
25. Knowledge and understanding of the firms IT system and use of its computer quotation engines
26. Willingness to continue to learn and develop
27. Awareness of financial vulnerabilities and ability to seek the best outcome within FCA rules and company guidelines
28. Ability to work & communicate effectively within a team and wider company
