Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Hartlepool.

The post will involve working in the community within the supportive and collaborative multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist assessment, formulation and interventions to young people and their families experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties.

The successful applicant will offer advice, consultation, supervision and training to other members of the CAMHS team and will play a key role in continuing to develop the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working of the teams.

The team are keen to maintain their therapies offer alongside the existing Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapies offered by other members of the team.

Main duties of the job

Experience of working with young people and families is important, as well as the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and with our multi-agency partner organisations.

The post holder will receive regular supportive supervision and work closely with psychology colleagues based both within the Hartlepool CAMHS Getting More Help team, but also across the wider psychology team in CAMHS within the Tees Valley. There is a strong psychological professions network across the trust and within the CAMHS directorate.

This vacancy is open to either a newly qualified or an experienced Specialist Family and Systemic Psychotherapist (see job specification for full details).

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will have a key role in providing assessments as well as a therapeutic, consultative and advisory service in relation to Children and Young People, their families and carers, according to identified clinical need. This can at times be in urgent, highly pressured and complex situations and circumstances. In addition to direct clinical work, providing consultation and where necessary clinical supervision to other team members is an important element of the role.

Applicants should have experience in working within CAMHS services and show strong trauma-informed values. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, motivated, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering excellent mental health care and evidence-based interventions. Opportunities to develop special interests and co-work will be encouraged, as will opportunities to undertake service development activities.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

1. Completion of qualifying level training in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy (Master's Level Training Course accredited by the Association for Family and Systemic Psychotherapy)
2. Full accreditation as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist with UK Council for Psychotherapy and the Association for Family and Systemic Psychotherapy
3. Evidence of continuing professional development

4. Trained in systemic supervision

Knowledge

Essential

5. Evidence- based practice relevant to the role
6. Risk assessment and risk management
7. Awareness of systemic barriers to accessing psychological services / healthcare for minoritized communities
8. Clinical governance
9. Legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.

Experience

Essential

10. Experience of working within mental health services and of delivering family and systemic psychotherapy within the designated service area and speciality.
11. Experience in discussing and responding to issues related to cultural diversity, intersectionality and inclusivity, including working with vulnerable groups (. those for whom English is not their first language).
12. Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams
13. Assessing and managing risk of self-harm / suicide

14. Experience of family and systemic psychotherapy provision in complex cases
