Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Family Practitioner to join a dedicated Children’s Services team supporting families across Staffordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about helping children and families achieve positive outcomes through early intervention, restorative practice, and meaningful support.
About the Role As a Family Practitioner, you will work directly with children, young people, and their families to provide both support and constructive challenge, helping to stabilise family relationships and reduce the need for children to enter care. Using a restorative approach, you will play a key role in empowering families to overcome challenges and build sustainable, positive futures.
You will be part of a collaborative district team, working alongside social workers, partner agencies, and community services to ensure children receive the right support at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with children, young people and families to support children to remain safely within their family networks or return home where appropriate.
Lead and contribute to Early Help Assessments and support plans, acting as a key worker for families.
Facilitate and organise family meetings, professional meetings, and group interventions.
Work collaboratively with social workers to support Children in Need, Child Protection cases and Children in Care.
Deliver targeted interventions on areas including parenting support, attachment, behaviour management, exploitation awareness, and emotional wellbeing.
Provide support around conflict resolution, mediation, crisis prevention, and life story work.
Maintain accurate records, documentation and reports relating to work with families.
Offer flexible support, including occasional evenings or weekends when required to best meet family needs.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring experience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable families.
Essential requirements include:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field working with children and families
Experience working directly with children, young people, and families in a statutory or voluntary setting
Understanding of child development and the impact of trauma and adversity
Knowledge of issues such as mental health, domestic abuse, substance misuse, poverty, and exploitation
Strong understanding of legislation and guidance relating to children’s social care
Experience delivering evidence-based parenting programmes or family interventions
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to manage conflict situations and work effectively with families in crisis
Strong written and IT skills for recording and reporting
Full driving licence (essential car user)
