Our civil construction Water client are seeking a Project Manager based in the South to manage Southern Water projects on a permanent basis with hybrid working.
Our client is one of the largest privately owned civil engineering and infrastructure specialists in the UK, with over 40 years of experience in providing design, civil engineering and maintenance services working across multiple sectors including Water, Transport, Built environment and Energy
The employ a direct delivery model and have circa 1200 employees across the UK working on a range of projects.
They are seeking a Project Manager is to deliver multiple ongoing projects, to the specified quality, the required programme and to the maximum commercial performance. The role also involves working closely with the Estimating Department, engineers, and surveyors to ensure that projects are completed safely, whilst ensuring customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded.
Key Responsibilities
1. Produce financial forecasts, monitor and control project costs and cost reporting, and produce monthly reports to the Contracts Manager on project performance, efficient team building and labour organisation
2. Deliver projects from the design phase to completion including all handover documentation
3. Review progress, budget resources and planning
4. Review work packages and ensure the scope of work is clearly defined and understood
5. Chair weekly site meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actions
6. Build and maintain good relationships with the customer, framework suppliers and design consultants
7. Develop and maintain construction programmes
8. Co-ordinate and manage site investigations during the ongoing construction process
9. Develop engineering solutions so that a buildable cost-effective construction solution is delivered that fulfils the client's requirements
10. Ensure production and implementation of Project Plans, risk assessments, method statements, site waste management plans, and procurement of plant and materials are in line with company procedures
11. Ensure detailed site diaries/records are completed
12. Maintain commercial tension to drive out costs and challenge the status quo
13. Prepare comprehensive estimates for additional work outside target costs
14. Assist with estimating new tenders
15. Chase potential new clients
16. Lead by example with HSE
Skills/experience/qualifications
17. Good working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme & Risk Management, and cost control including forecasting, actual cost, and value reporting.
18. Ability to use Primavera P6 software or equivalent
19. Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
20. MEICA Capabilities
21. CSCS manager's card
22. SMSTS
23. NEBOSH Construction Certificate
24. Knowledge of the NEC contract including the Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms
25. Excellent communication, people, and team management skills, with the ability to influence, motivate and mentor
26. Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to a conclusion
27. Ability to manage and deliver a successful project with minimal guidance
