An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Dental Nurse to join the team at the Leeds Dental Institute and Outreach sites, working across a range of departments within the Clinical Service Unit (CSU).
As a Qualified Dental Nurse you will be responsible for delivering exceptional standards of safe, effective care; monitoring and maintaining care to ensure that it consistently meets Trust standards. Qualified Dental Nurses work as a highly valued member of the Dental Team and applicants should be enthusiastic, professional and well-motivated team players whilst also being able to work on their own initiative. Further professional development is strongly encouraged. There will be opportunities for continuing professional development linked to a personal development plan.
Applicants must hold a NVQ level 3 Oral Health Qualification or equivalent National/Hospital Certificate in Dental Nursing and be registered with the General Dental Council. A post qualification certificate or additional competencies are desirable.
The post is suitable for full-time (37.5 hours), part-time, or job share arrangements (working days to be confirmed). Working hours - Monday-Friday - 8.30am - 5pm.
Responsibilities
* Support and provide chairside assistance to the multidisciplinary dental team, including dental undergraduate and postgraduate students in busy clinical areas within various departments of the Leeds Dental Institute and dental outreach sites.
* Ensure the correct equipment and instruments are available for surgery sessions, and complete administrative tasks for patients and daily running of surgeries.
* Commit to putting patients\' needs first within a friendly, supportive, efficient, clean and safe environment, providing a high standard of care whilst ensuring patients are treated with respect.
* Support the education and induction of apprentice dental nurses, dental undergraduate and postgraduate students.

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY
* Prepare for and assist (closely support) clinicians, dental students and postgraduate students with care, treatment and management of patients with general and complex dental treatment.
* Manage the preparation of the clinical areas ensuring a high standard of cleanliness within the department and working to the hospital Infection Control Policy.
* Communicate with members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care and promote effective team working.
* Assist with the teaching and supervision of learners and other staff.
* Respect the dignity and confidentiality of patients.
* Maintain a high standard of work and professionalism.
* Take responsibility for own personal development and complete all mandatory training required for the role.
* All staff are responsible for working with their colleagues to maintain and improve the quality of services provided to our patients and other service users. This includes complying at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Policies.
