We are seeking a person who is passionate about the National Park to create compelling and creative grant applications for our projects.



We’re looking for someone with experience of writing trust applications or shaping creative pitches, who has a passion for communicating a compelling case for support. You might be experienced in charity fundraising or public sector partnerships or be from a communications background and looking to expand into the fundraising sector.



You’ll be working alongside passionate and supportive colleagues in a rewarding environment, where you’ll make a huge contribution to our core aims of conserving and enhancing the National Park an opening up opportunities for people from more and varied backgrounds to enjoy it.



You will join a small team and help to grow support from charitable trusts and foundations as well as other grant making bodies. A significant amount of prospect research has already taken place to identify funding opportunities, presenting a chance for the right candidate to hit the ground running.



You will need:

* Demonstrable experience in fundraising or communications.
* Demonstrable experience of creating proposals and funding opportunities.
* Enterprising attitude and the drive to develop a creative and compelling case for support.
* Ability to prioritise and plan, balancing priorities and deal with competing tight deadlines.
* Effective in anticipating and understanding funder expectations and ensuring funding requirements are met and expectations appropriately managed.

Job Purpose:

You will support the generation of fundraising income for Northumberland National Park Authority’s priority programmes of work and projects which promote, assist and encourage the protection, conservation and enhancement of the National Park, and initiatives which connect people with nature through activities and learning experiences. The post will also support fundraising for The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre.

Key Result Areas:

Fundraising

* Research and write fundraising applications for Trusts and Foundations based on an existing prospect pipeline.
* Manage the administration process associated with any grants received by the Authority or the Northumberland National Park Foundation.
* Create fundraising reports for Trusts and Foundations as and when required.
* Research and develop the fundraising prospect pipeline and manage the rolling Trust and Foundation programme.
* Support Head of Communications and Development with development and implementation of public giving campaigns.
* Manage the supporter database and one-off or regular donations from individuals.
* Identify and manage partnerships with local business to attract sponsorship and support.
* Coordinate and implement stakeholder events when required.
* Liaise with different departments within Northumberland National Park Authority to scope and develop a case for support for areas of work when required.
* Work with the communications team and other departments to develop case studies, news stories and copy for social media and website.
* Keep up to date with fundraising opportunities and developments across different sectors including environment, culture and heritage, arts and education.

Stakeholder Management

* Support the Head of Communications and Development to manage the Northumberland National Park Foundation by attending Foundation meetings and providing administrative support.
* Support the Finance Manager with administrative tasks relating to the Northumberland National Park Foundation as and when required.
* Prepare funding requests and reports for Northumberland National Park Foundation.



Support and Advocacy

* Represent the Authority at external meetings as required

* Any other duties consistent with the nature, level and grade of the post as may be assigned by the Head of Communications and Development, Director of Business Development or Chief Executive Officer.
* Appoint and manage suppliers where appropriate.
* Where appropriate work with staff, volunteers, Members and Trustees.
* To promote and implement the Authority’s equal opportunities policies in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
* To assist in maintaining a healthy, safe and secure environment and to act in accordance with the Authority’s H&S Policies and Procedures.
* Act as a deputy to the Head of Communications and Development on fundraising as

and when required.











Person Specification

* Demonstrable experience in fundraising, particularly Trust and Foundation fundraising.
* Enterprising attitude and the drive to develop and implement new ideas and systems.
* Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills including the ability to motivate and influence others to adopt a course of action.
* Excellent relationship management skills.
* Ability to prioritise and plan, balancing priorities and deal with competing tight deadlines.
* Effective in anticipating and understanding funder expectations and ensuring funding requirements are met and expectations appropriately managed.
* Experience of working in a project or delivery environment.
* Experience of senior stakeholder and donor management.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Good IT skills.
* Ability to provide appropriate reports and maintain accurate records.
* Ability to work on own initiative and collaboratively with a wide range of partners.
* Excellent organisational and project management skills.
* Ability to work from home or office as and when required.
