1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant

Duration: Until Summer 2026
Pay: £85 – £100 per day (dependent on experience)
A friendly and inclusive primary school in Bedford is seeking a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs from February half term through to the end of the academic year. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building strong, trusting relationships and making a real difference to a child’s school experience.
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support, helping the pupil access learning, build confidence, and develop socially and emotionally within the classroom environment. The school offers a supportive staff team and a strong commitment to inclusion.
Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEND
Support learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
Implement strategies outlined in the pupil’s support plan or EHCP
Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence
Support the pupil’s social, emotional, and academic development
Communicate effectively with staff and parents where appropriate
Requirements:
Experience supporting children with SEND (1:1 or small group)
A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to adapt support to meet individual needs
A genuine passion for supporting children to succeed
