What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll bring commercial expertise from highways, surfacing, civil engineering or similar project environments.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Recording, monitoring and reviewing the financial performance of contracts
2. Preparing and submitting monthly applications for payment and final accounts
3. Producing monthly CVRs and forecasts (internal and client-facing)
4. Securing customer payments within agreed contract terms
5. Procuring subcontractors and managing subcontractor accounts
6. Ensuring full compliance with Tarmac and client processes
7. Issuing Early Warnings and managing Compensation Events under NEC contracts
8. Identifying commercial risks and opportunities to support project success
What We’re Looking For
We’re open to candidates with a Degree in Quantity Surveying, HND, or those who are qualified by experience (QBE).
You will also bring:
9. Strong understanding of NEC contracts
10. A passion for safety and doing things the right way
11. Proven commercial awareness and negotiation skills
12. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
13. Strong problem‑solving and analytical ability
14. Good numeracy skills and attention to detail
15. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
16. Willingness to travel across sites in the region
17. Good IT skills, especially spreadsheets, databases and ability to learn bespoke systems
18. Experience within the PAVE / Road Surfacing sector preferred
