Your new companyAs the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades and support operatives. Hays is seeking to recruit a General Building Operative for HMP Hatfield and HMP Lindholme. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the prison service and can often lead to permanent opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide support to the prison maintenance team across a range of tasks, including reactive repairs and damage restoration.
* Carry out basic joinery work as required.
* Perform minor plumbing tasks, such as unblocking toilets.
* Undertake simple electrical duties, including replacing light bulbs.
* Conduct routine fire alarm testing to ensure compliance and safety.
* Assist with waste management and disposal activities.
* Support ground maintenance tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment.
* Carry out general labouring duties as needed.
* Complete painting and decorating work to maintain facility standards.
* Assist with tiling and other minor repair projects.
What you'll need to succeed
* Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
* You must be able to pass a full prison security clearance and enhanced DBS (if required).
