The Role
The ICP Manager is responsible and accountable for the overall management and performance of the amphos ICP business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director of amphos Group, the role covers all aspects of ICP delivery including design, pre‑construction, construction, commissioning, energisation, and ongoing compliance in line with NERS accreditation and DNO requirements.
This is a senior leadership role requiring demonstrable technical competence, strong delivery experience, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and commercial control.
Key Responsibilities
Overall ICP Business Management
* Full operational and commercial accountability for the ICP business.
* Ownership of strategy, governance, processes, and performance across all ICP activities.
* Ensure alignment of ICP operations with Amphos Group business objectives.
* Provide regular performance, risk, and compliance reporting to the Managing Director.
* Act as the senior responsible manager for ICP delivery and governance.
Technical & Design Leadership
* Oversee and assure all HV and LV network designs in accordance with:
* NERS requirements
* G81 and applicable Engineering Recommendations (G99, G100, etc.)
* Relevant DNO and IDNO standards
* Act as the technical authority and escalation point for complex or non‑standard connections.
* Ensure robust, auditable design review and technical approval processes.
* Lead technical engagement with DNOs, IDNOs, auditors, and other stakeholders.
* Lead pre‑construction activities including scope definition, risk identification, programme development, and cost control.
* Ensure all projects are commercially viable and appropriately contracted.
* Support pricing strategy, bid reviews, and client negotiations where required.
* Identify early‑stage risks and mitigation measures to protect delivery outcomes.
Construction, Delivery & Energisation
* Overall responsibility for safe, compliant, and timely delivery of ICP projects.
* Oversight of construction planning, sequencing, and resource allocation.
* Manage interfaces with DNOs, local authorities, clients, and third parties.
Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance (NERS)
* Senior ownership of health, safety, quality, and compliance across ICP activities.
* Maintain ongoing compliance with:
* NERS accreditation requirements
* Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (ESQCR)
* CDM Regulations
* Lead NERS audits, surveillance visits, and corrective action plans.
* Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.
* Ensure accurate technical records, as‑built information, and adoption packs are produced.
People Leadership & Stakeholder Management
* Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams across design, project management, and construction delivery.
* Set clear objectives, accountability, and performance expectations.
* Manage and performance‑monitor subcontractors, suppliers, and delivery partners.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with DNOs, IDNOs, clients, and internal stakeholders.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in a senior ICP role
* Strong working knowledge of NERS requirements and audit processes.
* Demonstrable end‑to‑end experience delivering ICP projects from design through to energisation.
* In‑depth understanding of DNO adoption standards, G81, and contestable works.
* Strong knowledge of health & safety, CDM, and electrical safety legislation.
* Commercial acumen with experience managing cost, programme, and risk.
* Ability to act as a technical authority and senior decision‑maker.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
* Experience working across multiple DNO regions.
* Responsibility for maintaining or achieving NERS accreditation.
* Experience growing or improving an ICP operational function.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
