About the role

Robert Wilkinson Primary Academy are looking to recruit for a combined role of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, which will be for 14 hours per week and Teaching Assistant which will be for 17.5 hours per week. These hours will be worked Monday - Friday and are on a fixed term basis until July 2026 in the first instance.

Primarily in this role you will be providing support and cover across all classrooms throughout school ranging from Reception up to Year 6.

As a Teaching Assistant you will play a key role in the child's day, you will be passionate about teaching and learning and believe in developing the true potential of all our children. You will have a calm and positive disposition, the ability to break down activities into small step by step teaching and will nurture, inspire, challenge and motivate pupils. Implementing clear boundaries and routines. You will use behaviour management in all areas around school. You will also guide the children to help them to develop friendships and relationships with other adults in the school and their peers.

As an HLTA, you will work closely with and be supported by the school's teaching staff. As part of this role you may be responsible for the teaching, learning and assessment of a specific group of pupils or you may step in and do whole class teaching during the class teachers PPA time.

The job requirements

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with children, in a supportive capacity and has good verbal communication, strong time management, organisational skills and the ability to work well as part of a team as these are all essential to this role.

You will have the ability to build a good rapport with parents and carers and the wider school community.

Ideally you will be an experienced HLTA and Teaching Assistant with knowledge and understanding with regards to child development and the curriculum and how to enhance a child's experiences and build upon their learning.
