Overview

Social Workers (Multi-Agency Referral Unit) – Cornwall Council. We are looking for skilled and experienced social workers to join the Multi-Agency Referral Unit (MARU). The MARU is the multi-agency front door for children’s services, co-located with police, housing, health and early help colleagues, and focused on partnerships to provide a seamless, integrated offer to children and their families in Cornwall. You will join a vibrant, committed and supportive team with opportunities for professional development as we move into the Family Help model of working.

The Service & Team

We have two full-time vacancies and one 0.4 FTE vacancy. MARU is the first point of contact for vulnerable children and families in Cornwall, handling varied and skilled work within an integrated service. You will be part of an environment that supports ongoing professional development and progression.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

You will be a social worker registered with Social Work England and will have:

* Previous experience working within a social care environment
* A proven track record of excellent practice that improves the lives of children
* High-level written and verbal communication skills to build effective professional relationships with families and other professionals
* Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, models and theories relevant to children’s social work, and the ability to evidence how you have applied your learning to your practice
* The skills to undertake assessments and to use evidence-based practice tools to devise, implement and review care plans

If your experience is in another sector, we provide additional support to transition into children and families social work through a supported induction period.

Note: If you qualified as a Social Worker within the last 2 years but have not completed ASYE, we welcome your application as a Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) to access Cornwall’s ASYE programme. We also consider experienced social workers with expired SWE registrations following guidance. For this route, contact PSWpracticeeducation@cornwall.gov.uk.

What You’ll Get In Return

Cornwall Council aims to be an employer of choice and offers a reward and benefits package with flexible working options. We support ongoing professional development and provide clear career progression pathways for social workers, including opportunities to stay in front-line practice as advanced practitioners or move to front-line management.

* Welcome bonus of £4000 for qualified Social Workers new to Cornwall who have completed ASYE
* £3000 Annual Market Supplement for Advanced Practitioners
* Generous relocation package
* Individualised induction and high-quality core curriculum for ongoing development
* Career and qualification pathway, recognised by Ofsted as a foundation of Cornwall’s good practice
* Practice Educators support, regular supervision, and supportive leadership
* Assistance with temporary accommodation if relocating to Cornwall
* Access to a Cornwall Council lease car
* 26 days annual leave + bank holidays (increasing with service length) and flexible working
* Access to Community Care Inform and Research in Practice
* Payment of Social Work England registration fees
* Sponsorship for eligible overseas applicants
* Competitive starting salary with opportunities to progress
