What will you be doing?
We’re looking for a Lead Platform Engineer who enjoys staying hands – on whilst shaping cloud platforms and helping engineers around them grow.
You’ll set the standards, define the strategy, and lead the delivery of a secure, scalable, and developer‑friendly ecosystem that empowers product teams to ship faster and more confidently via our internal developer portal.
This is a hybrid role with occasional onsite collaboration (no weekly commuting) — typically once every 2–3 months, but you are able to attend our offices as much as you like, — at either our Liverpool or Welwyn Garden City offices.
You’ll help shape and run our Azure based engineering platform, setting standards, designing solutions and leading by example.
* Designing and evolving Azure cloud architecture.
* Building and running Kubernetes / AKS platforms
* Staying hands-on with platform engineering and automation
* Setting best practices across reliability, security, performance, and cost
* Improving developer experience through tooling, automation, and self‑service
* Mentoring and supporting engineers as the platform and team scale
* Working closely with product and engineering leaders on platform strategy
What we’re looking for
* Strong Azure experience (essential)
* Solid experience with Kubernetes, ideally AKS
* Background in platform, cloud, or infrastructure engineering
* Experience in a lead or senior role, with a mentoring mindset
* Comfortable balancing technical leadership with hands-on delivery
* Confident influencing architecture and engineering standards
It would be great if you have the following
* CI/CD tooling (e.g. Azure DevOps)
* Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm, Kustomize)
* Scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
* DevSecOps or platform security experience
