Job Title: Electronics Technician
Location: Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire
Duration: 6 months
We are currently recruiting for an Electronics Technician for a 6‑month temporary contract based in Barton-under-Needwood. The key aim of this role is the repair, modification and overhaul of associated train equipment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Work on own initiative or as part of a team within a dedicated team of electricians, working to production deadlines.
* Carry out repairs, modifications and overhauls of electronic equipment in accordance with work instructions and schematics.
* Be flexible to work in any assembly area, accepting varying shift patterns and assist in non assembly areas when required.
* Investigate, fault find, and diagnose equipment that does not achieve required outputs or fit correctly and correct faults where possible.
* Ensure all quality requirements are met by working to technical documents and work instructions.
* Carry out minor maintenance tasks and specified routine preventative maintenance, some of which may be outside assembly areas.
* Use MRP/ERP systems to process repair orders and consume parts for stock control purposes.
* Attend customer sites to provide technical support and assistance when required.
* Record components used at each stage of repair, modification and overhaul for customer reporting and repair history records.
* Raise Non Conformance Records (NCRs) as appropriate.
* Communicate production deficiencies to Supervision/Management as they are detected and suggest corrective actions.
Background & Experience
Essential
* Proficient IT skills, particularly MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Fault finding and repair of printed circuit boards (PCB's).
* Working within an electronics repair or technical environment.
* Previous experience in electronic testing, fault finding and repair.
* Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults efficiently and accurately.
* Experience in soldering.
Desirable
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering.
* Knowledge of the railway industry.
* Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
* Familiarity with improvement tools such as 5S and Kaizen.
* Previous experience within the rail or automotive industry.
Working Hours
* Monday to Thursday - 07:30 to 16:00
* Friday - 07:30 to 12:30
