Job Description
The Catering Assistant Manager will assist with the day-to-day operation of catering services, ensuring patient meals are prepared, presented, and delivered to agreed standards. The role involves supervising catering teams, supporting training and rota planning, and promoting high standards of customer care. You will help maintain compliance with food safety, health and safety, and infection control requirements, while supporting stock management, waste reduction, and cost control initiatives. The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical teams, dietitians, and facilities colleagues to ensure a responsive and patient-focused service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support daily catering operations across the site
2. Supervise catering staff to ensure effective service delivery
3. Ensure meals meet dietary, cultural, and clinical requirements
4. Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control
5. Support staff training, induction, and rota planning
6. Maintain compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
7. Liaise with clinical staff on specialist diet requirements
8. Assist with ordering, stock control, and waste reduction
9. Promote excellent customer service and patient satisfaction
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
10. Experience supervising staff in a catering environment
11. Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
12. Ability to work with dietary and allergen requirements
13. Good organisational and time management skills
