Why Join KPMG as an In-House Overseas Tax Manager?
The role is within KPMG UK’s Internal Partnership Tax Team, responsible for dealing with all tax matters relating to KPMG UK. This role specifically involves reviewing and advising on overseas tax and reporting requirements when KPMG UK colleagues travel or work overseas for business or are authorized to work overseas for personal reasons.
What will you be doing?
* Advising the business on overseas tax issues arising from business travel, whether short- or long-term, and managing the resulting overseas tax compliance.
* Overseeing the work of assistant managers and assistants in the team.
* Carrying out assessments of potential overseas corporate tax filing positions, preparing emails, notes, and reports to conclude on the way forward, including assessing the permanent establishment position.
* Working with the wider Internal Partnership Tax team to address employment tax, indirect tax, and social security matters arising from overseas travel.
* Collaborating with overseas advisers to ensure all overseas tax and regulatory issues are known and considered when assessing overseas tax risk.
* Working with specialists in various areas to ensure all risks associated with working overseas are considered, e.g., immigration, IT, EU Posted Worker requirements.
* Managing existing overseas tax compliance filing and payment requirements in several countries, including reviewing/preparing tax calculations and returns, and liaising with KPMG member firms for advice.
* Reviewing responses prepared by team members regarding requests to work overseas from client-facing colleagues.
* Dealing with senior members within the firm to implement policy changes related to overseas travel.
* Collaborating on process improvements and best practices.
* Contributing to the development of reporting technology to facilitate policy and travel management.
* Coaching and managing performance of some team members.
* Leading training and development for new and existing team members on their role requirements.
* Delegating tasks to team members to meet tax compliance and business deadlines, reviewing work, and providing feedback and training.
What will you need to do it?
* Qualified CTA or ACA
* Experience in a corporate or international tax role
* Strong understanding of overseas tax issues
* Excellent project management skills
* Sound judgment to identify and evaluate risk issues and know when to involve others
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written, at all levels
* Confidence in dealing with senior stakeholders
* Excellent teamworking skills, including delegation, managing teams, and developing junior staff
* Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel and SharePoint
* Respect for confidentiality
