About the Role As Hourly paid teacher English, you'll have the opportunity to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their full potential. You'll play a pivotal role in helping the English and Maths Department deliver high-quality teaching and learning that supports academic progress and lifelong skills. Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to the needs of individual learners and courses. Provide accurate and timely assessment, feedback, and record-keeping in line with college policies. Contribute to curriculum development and share best practice within the teaching team. Record and monitor learner progress through effective use of individual learning plans. Participate in cross-college quality assurance processes to support continuous improvement. Promote the College’s programmes at open evenings, careers events, and community outreach activities. Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and participate in the College’s appraisal and professional development schemes. Uphold and promote the College’s values, safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health & safety policies. Essential Qualifications: Education to Level 3 or above and/or a professional qualification in a relevant subject area. Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics (GCSE Grade C/4 or above or equivalent). Relevant teacher training qualification, or willingness to achieve one within 3 years of employment or the first available course. Essential Experience: Experience teaching English up to Level 2. Experience working with a wide range of learners at different levels. Strong understanding of educational issues and CPD requirements relating to English curriculum development. Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging and imaginative lessons tailored to individual needs. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills. Competence in using e-learning tools and general IT systems to support teaching and learning. Understanding and commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. Desirable Qualifications: Additional subject specialisms or advanced qualifications relevant to English teaching. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Desirable Experience: Experience contributing to curriculum design and innovation. Experience in cross-college or collaborative teaching initiatives.
