Senior Claims Specialist
Marley Risk Consultants Ltd is a chartered Loss Adjusters serving the Property Latent Defects Insurance market across the UK. Established in 2013, with offices in Shrewsbury, London, and Evesham, we are experiencing growth to meet expanding client needs.
We seek experienced Senior Claims Specialists to join our team in Bishops Cleeve. The role involves:
* Managing a portfolio of Latent Defect Claims on a delegated authority basis.
* Handling claims valued over £250,000 and more complex claims requiring detailed attention and client management.
Job Type:
· Full-time (Mon-Fri).
Key Activities:
* Manage all phases of the Latent Defect Insurance claim process efficiently and effectively, including:
* Receiving new claims
* Completing initial claim review within the agreed timeframe
* Checking claim details for accuracy and completeness, resolving discrepancies
* Deciding on claim validity following guidelines
* Preparing rejection letters if claims are rejected
* Preparing case strategy reviews for accepted claims and obtaining approvals
* Processing claims after approval
* Notifying clients for high-value claims (£500,000+ and £1m+), and obtaining necessary internal and client approvals
* Interpreting expert reports and insurance policies accurately
* Managing reserves and raising payments
* Updating claims management systems securely and accurately
* Participating in training and development, including high-level CII/CILA qualifications
* Communicating with insurers, policyholders, and industry professionals via calls, emails, and letters
* Managing time and resources to meet deadlines
* Liaising with policyholders and experts for claim settlements
* Identifying recoveries and liaising with legal advisors
* Proactively managing own claim portfolio
* Ensuring fair treatment of customers according to policies, legal, and industry standards
* Participating in site visits and team discussions
* Mentoring less experienced claims handlers
* Performing additional tasks as required, including deputising for managers
Skills and Experience Required:
* At least 5+ years of claims handling experience, preferably in property, motor, liability, or commercial insurance
* Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and claims management portals; training provided
* Strong communication skills
* Team player with good relationship-building skills
* Excellent customer service, organization, and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and adapt to new challenges
* Bachelor's degree and GCSE English Language grade 5/C or equivalent
* Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Certificate in Insurance (Level 3)
