Description The Service & Team: The SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Advisor (SEMH) will be an integral part of the SEND Support Service. The team works with schools and settings throughout the county with children and young people from 0-25 years with a wide range of SEND. We work closely with colleagues from a range of different professions including those in the NHS and social care. Alongside our specialisms we work together to provide training for schools/settings and other professionals on broader SEND issues such as The Graduated Response and Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessments. We are also involved in quality assurance and post-inspection work. We value Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for our team members and work closely together to keep our skills up-to-date and relevant. The Role: This is a new, exciting and innovative role which will change and develop over time! Working with schools and settings across the county, the role holder will be pro-active in encouraging positive and supportive mental health strategies and policies. High quality, accessible, advice, training and guidance will be provided to schools and settings. Positive partnership working will be a key element of the role, working with colleagues from a range of disciplines including those in the NHS and social care. Close working relationships will be developed with colleagues in the Statutory SEN Team where advice may be needed around SEN Tribunals. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check. Working Pattern: The role is 1.0 FTE (37 hours per week) What you’ll need to succeed: You will be a qualified teacher with at least two years teaching experience. An interest in/experience of working with learners with SEMH needs will support the role.
