This is an exciting opportunity to join the Clinical Site Management team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Applicants must be Registered Nurses with extensive and current experience in an acute hospital setting. They should be patient-centred, possess up-to-date clinical skills, and have an understanding of current acute hospital performance indicators.


About the Team

The operations centre is often seen as the “hub” of the hospital, where many decisions and plans are made to ensure the hospital can meet the demands of emergency and elective patients. It is also where major incidents are managed and hospital internal management team meetings are held. The team covers all OUH sites, offering an excellent opportunity to expand clinical skills and knowledge.


What You’ll Do

You will gain valuable insights into how the Trust responds to the growing demands of emergency and elective patient flow. You will be an integral part of the team that ensures the Trust functions smoothly daily, primarily based in the operations centre, maintaining patient flow and safety at all times. You must be a quick thinker, a strong leader with excellent problem-solving skills, capable of making sound operational decisions in rapidly changing situations. A calm and pleasant manner is essential, especially under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide high-quality clinical care, including specialist advice and support to ward teams, especially out of hours, and participate in the Trust Emergency Response Team for cardiac arrests and emergencies.
* Offer professional, advanced clinical support to junior doctors, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams across all sites.
* Coordinate the clinical handover process according to Trust guidance and protocols.
* Manage the Trust’s bed capacity over 24 hours, ensuring compliance with national targets, local pathways, and quality standards for admissions and discharges.
* Liaise with clinical services and senior clinicians to expedite patient admissions and discharges, following Trust policies.
