Job overview

We are seeking keen and capable clinicians for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner role within the South Bristol CAMHS team.

We are a service working with children and young people with complex mental health needs. We use the CAPA model of assessment and treatment, which would involve working with a variety of clinical presentations and needs, including: suicidal thoughts, low mood, anxiety, OCD and emerging psychosis, often alongside neurodiversity. We also have a lot of referrals for young people with disordered eating and diagnosed Eating Disorders, and there are opportunities to work within this clinic if this is something you are interested in.

We are looking for a practitioner with a core professional registration, including registered nurses, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, art therapists and CBT therapists.

South Bristol is an area of significant disparities in health, wealth and access. We are committed to working in a manner which is inclusive and anti-oppressive, and invite applications from staff who share these values.

Main duties of the job

To work within a highly experienced multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment and treatment of children and young people with serious and complex mental health difficulties.

To work with and support the system around the child or young person including family and wider professional network.

To contribute to the rota/duty system providing telephone support and advice to young people, carers and professionals who are open to South Bristol CAMHS.

Where required, contribute to the CAMHS Getting Advice team to support in triaging referrals made to the wider CAMHS service.

This post is open to newly qualified social workers. In line with AWP trust policy all newly qualified social workers (NQSW) will be recruited initially at Band 5 level, regardless of advertised role banding. All NQSW’s are expected to successfully complete their ASYE within 2 years of employment, unless there are exceptional circumstances in which case it may be extended for a further 2 years.

If you have been appointed to an advertised Band 6 role this will be an automatic progression, following confirmation of your successful ASYE completion. If you have been appointed to a Band 5 post you will then be eligible to apply for a subsequent Band 6 vacancy upon successful ASYE completion.
