About the Job:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, passionate, and motivated community support worker to join our well-established Perinatal Mental Health Team.
This role is offered on a permanent basis with part-time hours, 30 hours per week.
The Gloucestershire Perinatal Community Mental Health Team provides mental health support and services for women and their families during pregnancy and up to 2 years after birth.
The successful post holder will be an integral part of the service, supporting women and their families in the perinatal period.
The team prioritizes women with serious and complex mental health needs, including those with past serious mental health episodes who are currently well. We also provide specialist consultation, training, and advice to mental health, maternity, and primary health services.
We seek an individual with a keen interest in improving care for women and their families. Experience in Perinatal Mental Health is desirable but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.
Applicants must have excellent communication skills and experience supporting individuals with moderate to severe mental health difficulties and their families in community settings.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will, under supervision, provide support and education to women with moderate to severe perinatal mental health issues, promote well-being, mother-infant relationships, and reduce risks during this vulnerable period. They will contribute to holistic community assessments, focusing on parent-infant relationships and safeguarding, working flexibly in families' homes and community settings, offering practical support and advice based on service users' needs.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist in care and treatment provision under the supervision of a senior clinician.
They will develop therapeutic relationships, support mothers in achieving recovery goals, accurately record service user information, and communicate concerns promptly to senior clinicians.
Support will extend to carers and families, with efforts to connect with services supporting women and families with mental health issues.
The post holder will assist care co-ordinators and key workers in developing, implementing, and evaluating individual care plans.
