Job overview

This is a chance to join our friendly team on Bluebell Ward, working a variety of shifts. Our team supports those with a functional mental health illness. We work proactively with our patient group and their loved ones promoting independence and choice in their care.

Bluebell Ward accommodates inpatients in single, ensuite bedrooms to provide privacy and dignity to support recovery. Like the other facilities within the exciting Making Room for Dignity programme, Bluebell Ward has been designed in collaboration with staff, service users and carers to create the best possible environment for everyone, with quiet places and green spaces.

Main duties of the job

We have an established leadership team which consists of a Ward Manager, Clinical Leads, Lead Nurses and Occupational Therapists. Bluebell is a mixed sex environment with single ensuite rooms. This is where you will find a positive, supportive and friendly environment.

You will:

3. Work as part of a team responsible for the delivery of Patient/Client Centred Care.
4. Promote and support service user and carer involvement as autonomy and choices are an integral part of the philosophy of the Trust.
5. Respond to the needs of people in an honest, non-judgemental and open manner which respects the rights of individuals and groups.
6. Work closely with colleagues to ensure that clinical services are delivered to the highest standard and in accordance with the most recent evidence based guidance.
7. As a registered nurse, be personally accountable for your professional practice that will be delivered in accordance with the legal and professional responsibilities outlined by the NMC.
8. Ensure that services are provided in a safe and supportive environment and at all times adopt a professional approach to your work promoting a positive image to services users/carers and the general public.

You must be dynamic, organised, enthusiastic and motivated with evidence of continued professional development, with excellent communication and assessment skills and be able to use your initiative and keep calm in a busy and unpredictable environment.

You will join a nurturing team providing individualised recovery focused assessment and care planning.

The post will provide an ideal opportunity to extend your skill base in acute care with opportunities to become involved in a variety of work streams including patient, service and staff development.

You will be expected to work shifts across a 7 day week, including weekends and Bank Holidays.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria

24. RMN or equivalent
25. Educated to Diploma Level Dip HE Nursing) or evidence of post qualification education / training (working towards Diploma qualification)
26. Completed student mentorship programme or willing to undertake

Desirable criteria

27. Supervision training completed or willing to complete

Experience

Essential criteria

28. Demonstrate the development of post registration clinical competence.
29. Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of professional accountability and codes of conduct and their application in practice.
30. Demonstrate knowledge and developing expertise of CPA / Risk Assessment and Management skills
31. Demonstrate up to date evidence based knowledge
32. Able to work shifts
33. Ability to lead and co ordinate a shift
34. Good time management skills
35. Awareness of named nurse framework

Desirable criteria

36. Able to support Junior staff with clinical supervision
37. Completed preceptorship
38. Good IT skills
